The door sliced open, and a stylish and inky cowboy boot pressed into the gravel drive. Moments later, a figure loomed taller than the car. A thick, gray mustache hung over the man’s lip like an inverted frown. Bushy eyebrows shaded gray and unreadable eyes. The man cleared his throat with a guttural scoop and spit the contents in the dry grass.
“You must be Dakota. Dakota Moore.” He raised one eyebrow as if it were a cap he was tipping politely. His voice was strong, crisp, and not unpleasant, like wind scattering dry leaves.
“I’m her mother, Elu,” Mom answered behind me, stepping into the evening with a boy behind her hip. “What can we do for you?”
Suddenly Rural Girl is the Christian YA Novel I’m close to wrapping up. Publishers are elusive, but they’re not fantasy. Dann is an educator, Media & Design Guru, Author, and Public Speaker. He currently serves as Media and Design Specialist at an impressive little Midwestern College where he works directly with faculty to develop effective instructional videos. He has an MFA in Digital Cinema from California's National University, a BSED in English and Theatre Education from the University of South Dakota, and a certificate in Online Education from UW Stout. He was founder and principle owner of Little Prompter, LLC, a teleprompter design and manufacturing company until he sold the company in 2020. Prior to joining Carleton's staff, he taught communication, theatre, and video production for approximately 15 years while working as a professional actor and director--appearing in over forty national and regional commercials and directing and editing dozens of videos and musicals.
Dann’s MFA thesis project involved writing and directing an original, full-length musical, filming the entire development and production process, and editing it into an educational DVD entitled How to Write and Produce Your Own High School Musical. His DVD is currently being distributed by Films Media Group.
